I love a good ghost story. The Uninvited (1944) is my favorite haunted house movie of all time, and if you haven't seen it you should. There's no gore, no torture porn, just a family mystery and disembodied crying and a cold room. So good!
One of my favorite books is Remember Me by Christopher Pike, which I read as a teenager. It's about a girl who has to figure out how and why she died, and it's sooooo good.
As you might expect, I have written a lot of ghostly tales. Sometimes my characters are chasing ghosts, and sometimes they're ghosts themselves. I have friendly ghosts, malevolent ghosts, and helpful Christmas ghosts. Spooky options for every occasion! LOL!

Date: 2026-07-19 07:39 am (UTC)That movie rocks. (Bonus points for having Donald Crisp; I love seeing him in a movie!) That's the kind of horror movie I can get behind. No jumpscares; no gore. Just an unsettling sensation that something isn't right, and a bunch of engaging characters I'd love to hang out with, stuck in the middle of it.
Though I'm typing this in July, I'm very much in an eerie kinda mood. I tend to get like this in the hotter months, I think; I think it's kind of me yearning for the colder time of year, which I very much prefer. And I'm a sucker for a good ghost story. Been going through my spooky-related board on Pinterest, looking for more good Pins to add to it through the suggestions. And I'm totally looking forward to

I wrote a series of drabbles from Pamela's POV recently, though, and it exposed a really big plot hole that I never saw before. (Namely that Pamela never did any research on the house while she was there on her own, and didn't make any local friends who'd tell her the history of the house. Seems so unlikely.)
