So, I happened to be fixing a thing on one of my posted fics and I noticed my digi art isn't there. Instead is a notice from Photobucket about 3rd Party hosting. Okay. So I went to the site and I see they've changed things up. If I want to be able to embed my pics - which I do - at places like AO3, I have to sign up for P500. Do you want to know the yearly cost of being able to embed my own stuff? $399!!!

Who can afford that nonsense?

But I don't know where else to go with my title cards and fanart. That's why I need your help, friends. Where do you keep your pics for sharing purposes? Does it let you use embed links? Is it super expensive?

I can only assume all my art on AO3 now has this message, which makes me so mad. I want my pics back!

Help!!

For an all-uptime, no-nonsense, free site, I use imgur.com. Never had any issues to be honest. Easy to use, free, minimal ads.

I've also used the photo stuff on LJ, and I know DW now has some of the same stuff. And finally, I've used WWOMBTube - mostly for MP3 hosting of my podcast, but there's also image hosting and video hosting. Of course it's on my own server, so I can do what I want with it. :)

I'll have to check out Imgur. ::nods:: Thank you!

It's good to be the king! LOL!

I uploaded a pic to Imgur last night and played around with codes. I couldn't get the embed code to work in AO3. It kept posting a link back to Imgur, but when I clicked on the link it came up as broken.

So I tried the same on Flickr and that worked perfectly! Now I'll have to being the process of uploading all my title cards and fic art, and replacing links on AO3. Sigh.

I am so glad you found something that works! Good luck replacing all your art though, that is QUITE the undertaking.

I know. Sigh. Well, it'll give me something to do besides staring at Word documents and wishing I had words.

I use LJ for hosting images and crossposting to Ao3, but it's a pain (the crossposting bit, not the original uploading bit). If I ever leave here I'd probably look into Imgur. I gave up on Photobucket years ago.

Photobucket has been deteriorating, it's true. It was so easy to use when I was first dabbling with pic posting, but now it's all ads. And $399 a year for embed capabilities? Are they insane?

I tried Imgur but the embed code didn't work. Tried Flickr...success! It was super easy, too, and offers a wide variety of posting sizes that are easily selected. I think that's what I'll be using.

Yeah, honestly Photobucket is out to lunch. Who will spend $400/year for a service you can get easily elsewhere? The business model that companies CHARGE you for access to content you willingly upload to them in the first place is akin to shooting people in the face who walk into your shop to buy something.

I forgot I have a Flickr account! Yes, it's easy to use :)
